Dane Terhune, DVM
Dr. Dane Terhune grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska, surrounded by pets, and from a young age knew he wanted to become a veterinarian. He developed a love for working with animals while helping on his grandparents’ farms and caring for stray cats before heading off to college.
Dr. Terhune attended the University of Nebraska, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences. He then continued his education at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University, earning his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1988.
After veterinary school, Dr. Terhune began his career in Des Moines, Iowa, working at a small animal hospital. He later returned to Lincoln, where he has since practiced small animal medicine, with interests in client education, wellness care, soft tissue surgery, and dentistry.
Dr. Terhune is especially passionate about providing affordable wellness and preventative care, including spay and neuter surgeries, to pets in the Lincoln community, which aligns with the mission of Stransky Veterinary Center.
In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife, son, extended family, and friends. He also enjoys watching his son play sports, camping, participating in outdoor activities, and attending Huskers games.
